The charming city of smiles, BACOLOD, humbly resolves itself as the capital of Negros Occidental and stretches a metropolitan area covering the other two cities of Talisay and Silay. Bacolod doesn’t have the spectacular sights that other destinations in the Philippines boldly and loudly brag about. But,
Bacolod is widely known for four things: sweets, smiles, chicken inasal and Masskara Festival.


Here are the top tourist spots that you can visit in a day tour while in Bacolod City.

SAN SEBASTIAN CATHEDRAL

San Sebastian Cathedral is the most famous religious and historical landmark in the province of Bacolod. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Church in Bacolod City. This late 19th Century Church has Coral Stones from Guimaras and hardwood from Palawan as its primary building materials.

NEW GOVERNMENT CENTER (NGC)

The New Government Center or the NGC is now one of the new landmarks of Bacolod City. The NGC grounds are frequented by joggers, pet lovers with their dogs, friends or families hanging out, etc.  It has also been a favorite of photography enthusiasts for workshops or commercial shoots. The NGC fast becoming one of the most photographed landmarks in the city.

NEGROS MUSEUM

The Negros Museum is a well-curated Museum that showcases various artworks, relics, and artifacts that best describes the glorious past of this city. The museum not only represents the historic artworks but also encourages recent story-based contemporary art innovatively created by local artisans. The Museum also has a souvenir shop that sells local artworks and handicrafts made by local artists.

Provincial Capitol and Lagoon

Provincial Capitol and Lagoon. The seat of the provincial government of Negros Occidental. Its Romanesque neo-classical architectural design is a reflection of the status of Negros Occidental during its hay day being the richest brought about by the boom of the sugar industry. During the World War II, this place was used as headquarter by the Japanese.

POPE JOHN PAUL II TOWER

Pope John Paul II Tower the seven-story is located right at the back portion of SM City Bacolod, the same location where the Pope held a Mass when he visited Bacolod City during his first visit in 1981.

Here are activities that are worth a try while traveling around Bacolod City.
